ORLANDO, Fla. — Editor’s note: This story is available as a result of a content partnership between WFTV and the Orlando Business Journal.
Filipino-based fast-food restaurant Jollibee is spreading its wings in the Sunshine State, opening its first Orlando location soon at 11891 E. Colonial Drive. The brand has three other restaurants across the state in Jacksonville, Pembroke Pines and Pinellas Park.
Why this matters: New restaurants create jobs and business opportunities for local suppliers. They also help landlords lease up shopping centers and provide an amenity for existing residents and workers in the area, helping make developing areas more desirable.
Jollibee is known for serving its fried chicken, called “Chickenjoy,” but it also offers a variety of items not normally seen at U.S.-based fast-food chains. In addition to fried chicken buckets, sandwiches and tenders, some of Jollibee’s most popular items are a sweet spaghetti topped with hot dogs, burger steaks and peach mango pies. The chain also serves fries, burgers, rice and Palabok Fiesta, a Filipino noodle dish.
