FHP: Man, 19, killed in traffic crash in Orlando’s Meadow Woods neighborhood

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers are investigating a deadly crash in the Meadow Woods community of Orange County.

10:25 a.m. update:

FHP said troopers have cleared the crash scene and there is no longer roadblock in the area.

FHP said investigators are still at the crash scene and there continues to be roadblock in the area.

The agency has released additional information regarding what troopers believe led to the crash.

FHP said the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Rhode Island Woods Circle, approaching Fairway Glen Drive.

The driver of a Chevy Equinox, traveling in front of the Accord, was also heading westbound on Rhode Island Woods Circle.

Investigators said the Equinox’s driver was in the process of the making a lefthand turn onto Fairway Glen Drive.

Troopers said the man driving the Accord entered the eastbound lane of Rhode Island Woods Drive, attempting to pass the Equinox.

The vehicles collided before the Honda ran off the roadway and struck a wall, investigators said.

FHP said the driver of the Honda Accord, 19, of Orlando, died at the crash site.

The woman driving the Chevy Equinox, 19, also of Orlando, was not hurt and stayed on scene following the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.

Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 5:20 a.m. Friday at Fairway Glen Drive and Rhode Island Woods Circle.

FHP said the collision two involved two vehicles.

The agency confirmed that one person died at the crash scene.

FHP is asking motorists to avoid this area while troopers investigate the deadly incident.
