FHP: Deadly ATV crash along SR417 closes the highway for several hours Saturday morning

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says multiple ATVs along State Road 417 were involved in a deadly crash Saturday morning.

According to the FHP, two ATVs were traveling on the northbound outside lanes along SR417 near Lake Underhill when a Nissan Rogue, also traveling north, hit two ATVs.

The crash ejected both ATV riders. One rider died on the scene the other was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Witnesses to the crash told troopers a third person on one of the ATVs ran from the crash site.

Troopers searched the area but did not locate anyone.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of SR417 for about six hours Saturday morning.

FHP says driving an ATV on SR417 is prohibited by law.
