OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers said a woman died after she was hit by a car trying to cross U.S. 192 in Osceola County on Wednesday morning.

Trooper said the woman’s body was found in the eastbound lanes of the road, and that she was not using a crosswalk when she was hit.

“We do know at this time the female driver was going eastbound, she was in the process of changing lanes when the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk when the collision occurred,” said Tara Crescenzi, with the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said sometime after, the driver called in the crash herself, but it’s not clear if she stayed in the area.

Investigators have not released the name of the driver or the woman who died.
Homicide detectives are interviewing the driver about how the event played out, the timing of the crash and when she dialed 911. So far, troopers said the driver is cooperating with investigators.
