FHP: Bicyclist struck, killed in Marion County hit-and-run crash

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol said a bicyclist has died after a hit-and-run crash in Marion County.

According to a news release, the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on US Highway 441, north of Del Webb Boulevard.

Investigators said the bicyclist was traveling in the outside southbound lane when an unknown vehicle hit him and left the scene.

Troopers said the 44-year-old bicyclist didn’t have any lights.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers don’t know the exact making model of the suspect vehicle but believe it could be one of the following: a 1994-1998 silver or gray Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban or C series/K series, 1500, 1500 HD, 2500 HD, or 3500 HD.

FHP is asking anyone with information on the crash to call them at 407-737-2213.
