FDA looking into rare heart inflammation in teens with Moderna vaccine before authorization

When it comes to vaccines for children, Pfizer is the only option.

While thousands of children received Moderna’s vaccine in clinical trials, it’s not out on the market.

The FDA wants to learn more about a rare risk of heart inflammation in teens before they authorize it.

Study: Moderna vaccine generates more antibodies than Pfizer’s shot

The Moderna trial for children as young as 12 was studied in Orlando. Channel 9 asked the lead researcher if any of her patients developed the rare heart condition after getting the shot in her trials.

She and many other doctors continue to stress that COVID-19 itself can cause heart inflammation at higher rates than the rare cases caused by the vaccine.
