FBI: Registered sex offender recorded videos of boys in bathroom of Orlando church

ORLANDO, Fla. — A registered sex offender is facing new charges after investigators said he was recording videos of young boys inside the bathroom of a local church.

Federal investigators arrested 29-year-old Angel Cannella last October after they said he used a messaging app to share and download child pornography.

According to the FBI, when agents searched his phone they found videos of boys taken inside a bathroom of an Orlando church.

Eyewitness news has learned those videos were taken at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Alafaya trail.

Records show Cannella, a registered sex offender was supposed to be on probation until 2024 but he was granted early termination of that probation after his pastor appeared in court on his behalf.

According to the FBI, the videos discovered on Canella’s phone were taken a month after his probation had been terminated.

In a statement, the Diocese of Orlando said it was aware of the accusations.

“We have been made aware of a situation of an individual taking pictures of children on the property of St. Joseph Catholic church in Orlando. We are cooperating fully with authorities. The safety of our parishioners, families, volunteers and staff is of the utmost importance to the Diocese of Orlando.”
