DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A NASCAR fan who was seriously injured during a 2013 crash at Daytona International Speedway that sent debris flying into the stands has settled a lawsuit against the organization for an undisclosed amount.
The fan, Allen Davis, was in the stands when a car driven by Kyle Larson went airborne and smashed into the safety catch fence.

Debris from the car shot into the crowd, injuring more than 30 people, officials said.
In his lawsuit against the speedway and NASCAR, Davis said he suffered catastrophic and traumatic brain injury when he was hit in the head with debris from the crash.
Since the 2013 crash, the speedway said it has improved safety measures, including strengthening the fencing in several spots.
