Family says man with ties to Central Florida hurt in New Orleans terrorist attack

SANFORD, Fla. — The family of a man who was hurt in the New Orleans terrorist attack is sharing new details on the horrific incident.

Jeremi Sensky lives in Pennsylvania but also has ties to Central Florida. He is one of the dozens of people who were hurt during the attack early New Year’s Day on Bourbon Street.

His daughter, Haven Sensky, spoke with Channel 9 and described the moment when she and her family found out her dad was alive.

“It was extremely traumatic,” Haven Sensky said.

She said her father, who’s been paraplegic 1999, was struck by the driver during the driver during the attack and could not do anything to get out of the way.

The family heard about the incident but didn’t know if Jeremy was even alive until hours later.

The family trip through the south was supposed to end in Sanford, where the Sunskeys have a home and where they’ve spent their winter for years.

Haven says both of her dad’s legs were shattered in the incident. But because of his preexisting condition, he couldn’t feel anything.

Instead, he just remained quiet and waited for help – while terror unraveled around him.

The family has started a GoFundMe account to help raise money for his medical expenses.
