Fallen heroes honored at 2023 Law Enforcement Memorial in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County leaders joined law enforcement Wednesday to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Heroes lost in the line of duty were honored at the 41st annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.

Names of those lost were read and their memories were honored at the gathering.

Candles and glowsticks were lit while bagpipes were played.

In 2022, nine law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in Florida.

Officials said the Orange County Law Enforcement Memorial brings together law enforcement, dignitaries, families, and members of our community to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the community they courageously served.

“Tonight, we remember those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. They are forever bound together by an unbreakable bond of valor. We remember them with enormous respect and appreciation for their courage and character, as we appreciate all who have answered the call to become a law enforcement officer.” Said Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith.
