SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A 12-year-old Millennium Middle student forced the school district to post extra deputies after making a threat to the school.

Seminole County deputies say a man in Texas, participating in an online game chat, notified authorities when he became concerned.

That prompted the sheriff’s office to post extra deputies on campus as a precaution.

By Tuesday afternoon deputies had identified the student and said the threat was “non-credible.”

“Based on the totality of circumstances, from this point, the matter will be handled at the school-district level,” said sheriff’s spokesman Bob Kealing.

In a message to families with children enrolled at the school, the district thanked parents and asked them to stay vigilant.

"Dear Millennium Middle School Families,

We have an update to the threat made to campus this morning.  Law Enforcement has been working tirelessly to investigate the situation to the fullest. They were able to identify and apprehend the subject and are currently dealing with the situation.

There is NO threat to the Millennium campus.  With that being said, please continue to stay vigilant – and remember or motto..."See Something, Say Something, Do Something!"

By working together, we can keep and maintain a safe learning environment for everyone.

Thank you!
