Ex-teacher, football coach accused of having sexual relationship with student, 15, leaves jail

PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A former Atlantic High School teacher and football coach left jail Friday after paying bail.

Arin Hankerd is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

At least 40 women have called Port Orange police about Hankerd’s conduct following his arrest in Volusia County.

A detective testified that four of the 40 women who have contacted police reported sexual abuse.

Hankerd’s attorneys said the judge should not consider the additional claims, citing little proof.

Hankered has since resigned from the school.
