ORLANDO, Fla. — There’s new controversy over a project to ease traffic in Orange and Osceola counties.
A new dispute has emerged regarding proposed State Road 534, an initiative designed to link the 417 with Boggy Creek to reduce traffic congestion.
The proposed roadway is intended to alleviate vehicle volume on Narcoosee Road.
Project plans for the proposed road were presented during an informational session on Wednesday.
The Expressway Authority is advancing the project as a solution to growing regional traffic demands across Orange and Osceola counties.
According to the Expressway Authority, construction of State Road 534 along the proposed route will not impact any existing homes.
Environmental advocates continue to oppose the project, contending that those residences should not have been constructed in the area initially.
Environmentalists stated that they remain confident in their ability to halt the roadway development.
