The site has been empty since 2009 and under contract multiple times. Eatonville and Orange County Public Schools, which still have a stake in the property, almost sold the property in 2017, but that sale fell through the cracks.

Falcone Group is looking to build a mixed-use complex with housing, office space, retail, and public amenities on the 88-acre lot at a price tag of $14.6 million.

Residents say they are a little concerned the new construction will force them out of their homes. However, the developer says they plan to meet with community leaders and neighbors to get their input on the new plans.

The developer says they want the communities’ opinions on what types of retail and restaurants they would like to see occupy the space, and most importantly how the development will commemorate and promote Eatonville’s History.
