Drugs, alcohol could be a factor in deadly Brevard County high-speed head-on crash, police say

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Police in Brevard County are investigating a deadly crash possibly involving drugs and alcohol, police say.

The crash happened Saturday near the intersection of of North Harbor City Boulevard and Nelson Avenue.

Police said a Nissan Titan was traveling northbound on North Harbor City Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while changing lanes.

The Titan crossed into the oncoming lanes and hit a Toyota Rav4 that was traveling in the opposite direction head-on.

The driver of the Rav4, a 67-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Drugs and/or alcohol are believed to be a factor in this crash, police said.

The crash is still under investigation.
