The Naval Air Station Jacksonville says the drones are not a threat, but the base is prepared for potential risks.

One Florida congressman said while this is concerning, he is not surprised by the spike in reports happening now.

“The more we talk about these things, the more people are going to go out and legally fly their drones at night too and, you know, light up the sky. Maybe to get on television,” said U.S. Rep. John Rutherford.

The congressman said he’d like people to make reports that turn out to be nothing instead of failing to report something that could be dangerous.
