Driver hit and killed on Interstate 95 in Brevard County after her car catches fire, troopers say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly Brevard County crash involving a pedestrian.

Troopers said the crash happened Sunday around 2:45 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the State Road 514 exit.

According to troopers, a Toyota Camry had struck a tree on the shoulder and caught fire.

The driver exited the car and was standing in the outside travel lane when another car was unable to avoid the pedestrian and struck her with his vehicle.

The 60-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Northbound traffic was diverted onto State Road 514 during this investigation and the northbound lanes opened at 6:44 a.m.

This crash remains under investigation.
