Dozens gather in Orlando in support of national ‘Day Without Immigrants’ rally

ORLANDO, Fla. — Dozens of people gathered at Lake Eola Monday in support of the immigrant community.

It was a part of the national “A Day Without Immigrants” movement meant to demonstrate the importance of immigration to the development of the country.

Event organizers say the United States has always relied on immigrant labor, and it’s time to recognize that contribution.

“All immigrants need to be treated with dignity and respect, and the ability to participate in the society,” said Neza Xiuhtectuli of the Florida Farmworker Association.

The first “A Day Without Immigrants” rally was largely organized online in 2017.
