KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Downtown Disney as you know it will be no more Tuesday evening. Over the last year, workers have been transforming the outdoor market into the new Disney Springs.
The name change becomes official at 5 p.m.
Disney Springs has been years in the making, and there's still a lot of major construction happening. The project will extend well into 2016 with parts of the transportation corridor and parking structures set to be complete sometime in 2017.

With the new name comes a new area that will house 150 stores and restaurants, compared to the 80 in Downtown Disney.
A handful of new businesses have already opened shop, including Chapel, a hat store and a new bar and restaurant called The Boathouse.
Disney Springs will become a much more family-orientated attraction. It includes a new area called The Landing, which features new bars like the Morimoto Asia and Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar.
The look is a throwback to early Florida styling, according to Channel 9's Steve Barrett.
Gone is the fun spot Pleasure Island, which was an adult-themed group of nightclubs that were well-known party spots. Those closed in 2008, but some of the attractions continued to operate well after the name change.
