ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Walt Disney Company made $21.8 billion in revenue in its first quarter.

A lot of that is due to its streaming service Disney+ and relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions.
Late last year, ticket prices rose at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
Prices on tickets and food have some saying the hikes are out of control, but it seems it didn’t stop people from buying in.

The turnout at the parks and resorts is still below pre-pandemic levels due to the up-and-down of COVID-19 cases.
However, this quarter is better than the same time last year.
The parks generated $7.2 billion. The pandemic may have hurt the theme parks, but not the streaming service.

Disney+, which has been around since 2019, added 11.8 million subscribers last quarter, hitting almost 130 million subscribers.
A lot of that was due to the movie “Encanto.”

Its original song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” hit No. 1 on the Billboard top 100 chart. That hasn’t happened since 1993 with “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin.”
