Back in July, it was announced that Disney planned to invest $864 million in a campus to build and grow its presence in Central Florida.
About 2,000 jobs are slated to move from California to Orlando’s Lake Nona community. The Disney campus will be home to imagineers and other professionals, and the jobs will pay on average $120,000 annually.

Earlier timelines suggested the move might have been by late 2024.
On Wednesday, a Disney spokesperson told Channel 9′s partners at the Orlando Business Journal that the plans shifted.
“While a growing number of our employees, who ultimately will work at the campus, already have made the move to Central Florida, we also want to continue to provide flexibility to those relocating, especially given the anticipated completion date of the campus is now in 2026,” the statement reads. “Therefore, where possible, we are aligning the relocation period with the campus completion.”

Tavistock Development Company is in charge of construction on the Lake Nona campus.
Channel 9 reported this week that the president of Tavistock said by building in Lake Nona, Disney will become part of the smart city where cutting-edge ideas turn into realities.

Tavistock could not be reached for comment.
Disney is on track to get more than $570 million in tax credits to move the jobs here. The capital investment tax program would be spread over 20 years. It would be among the largest tax breaks in state history for a single corporation.
