Disney announces ‘The Lion King’ theme for 2021 runDisney Virtual series

ORLANDO, Fla. — Lace-up your running shoes — the runDisney virtual series has announced the theme for its 2021 summer virtual 5k series.

This year’s event will honor the Disney classic “The Lion King.”

The three runs will feature a medal inspired by different versions, from the animated film to the Broadway Musical to the reimagined classic.

Runners can even sign up for a special Virtual Challenge, which includes all three runs, and receive a special challenge medal.

The series allows runners to complete their race anywhere at any time between April 8 and August 31.

Participants can download their at-home race kit which includes a race bib, start line, finish line and mile markers.

Registration for the virtual event will open on April 8 at 10 a.m. ET.
