Disney affordable housing project in Horizon West advances

New plans have been filed with Orange County for Disney’s affordable housing project in Horizon West, moving the apartment concept into the next phase of development.

County commissioners voted 5-1 Oct. 8 to approve the project to move forward.

The only nay vote came from Commissioner Nicole Wilson of District 1, where the project is sited. Residents of the nearby Village H have voiced strong opposition to the development, voicing concern over school crowding and traffic, though experts say the project actually might alleviate some traffic issues.
