Disaster recovery center opens in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County residents impacted by Hurricane Ian will be able to get some help at a new FEMA disaster recovery center beginning Oct. 12.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster recovery center, located at 1845 Holsonback Drive in Daytona Beach, will serve as a resource hub for individuals and businesses recovering from Hurricane Ian’s impacts.

Volusia County community services director Dona Butler said having several agencies in a single location will help residents get the assistance they need.

“Having one centralized location with so many resources is a big step forward in the recovery process,” Butler said.

Services provided at the center include:

• Guidance for recovery assistance in the community
• Clarification on FEMA letters
• Status of FEMA applications and how to appeal a denied application
• Housing and utility assistance information
• Small Business Administration program information

Appointments are not required and residents will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The DRC in Volusia County is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
