Developer bets on Sanford as ‘the next Winter Garden’

An Orlando-based commercial real estate executive and developer is betting big on Sanford’s historic downtown district as “the next Winter Garden” with a wave of redevelopment projects.

Roger Soderstrom Jr., a broker with Orlando-based Stirling International Real Estate, is the developer behind three redevelopment projects in Sanford’s core — in addition to recently entitling and flipping nearby vacant lots.

The current redevelopment projects were bought in May and April 2023 for a combined $750,000 and involve a capital investment of at least $600,000, Soderstrom told Orlando Business Journal.
