VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A deputy fatally shot a 29-year-old man Friday evening in the Seville neighborhood, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said they were called shortly before 7:45 p.m. to U.S. 17 near Bunnell Road after a report of domestic violence.

Deputy Brandon Watson fatally shot Emmanuel Alquisiras. Witnesses told Channel 9 that they heard four shots fired.

Watson's body-worn camera recorded the shooting.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood described the shooting as justified.

"After watching the body camera video of last night's deputy-involved shooting, it's clear to me that this deputy was placed in a terrible situation and did everything he could to try and convince this man to stop fighting," Chitwood said in a tweet. "I stand behind the deputy 100 percent. We will release the video."

According to the Sheriff's Office, Watson was responding to a domestic disturbance call between Alquisiras and his wife. Alquisiras was standing at the top of a staircase, and Watson tried to get him to cooperate.

When Alquisiras' wife walked out onto the staircase, he grabbed her and started struggling with her, so Watson shocked Alquisiras with a Taser.

Alquisiras got into a tussle with Watson, grabbed his Taser and fired it. Watson shot Alquisiras multiple times, killing him.

Watson was placed on paid administrative leave, which is typical in police shootings.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
