ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies said a man was shot to death by an intruder in his home on Mott Avenue Saturday.
Dennis Spurlock, 53, was found by his sister. She told investigators she was in her bedroom just after midnight when she heard several gunshots from the living room.
She said she left her room and found her brother on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. She went to a neighbor's home to call for help.
Spurlock was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Sheriff’s Office K-9 was able to follow a trail to about a half-mile away from the home before it ran out, suggesting the suspects may have fled in a vehicle.
A gun was found outside the home but invetsigators have not said if it's connected to the crime.
Investigators are now trying to find witnesses and any surveillance video that may show any potential suspects.
Deputies said they don’t know what led to the shooting.
