PALM COAST, Fla. — Deputies in Flagler County have arrested a man Thursday who they said stabbed a woman to death.
Deputies responded to a home on Woodhollow Lane Wednesday at about 7:30 p.m.
Nathaniel Ryder Shimmel, 22, faces charges of first-degree murder in the death of his 60-year-old mother Michele Shimmel.
Deputies said the stabbing appears to be domestic.
Nathaniel Shimmel told deputies he saw a masked man run out of his home and that he found his mother with a knife in her back. He later admitted to deputies that the two began to argue and that his mother threatened to kick him out of the home because he was not out looking for a job.
Nathaniel Shimmel admitted to stabbing her as she ran out of the home for help, deputies said.
Nathaniel Shimmel told deputies, "There is no God who would forgive what I've done."
"She was a good person. She was a good mother. She was a good wife," neighbor Lynn Ouellette told Channel 9's Roy Ramos.
Nathaniel Shimmel is being held without bail.
