Deputies search for persons of interest in Lake County kidnapping

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two persons of interest in the kidnapping of an woman.

The Sheriff’s Office said the kidnapping happened in the Okahumpka area around 9 p.m. Aug. 20.

Deputies said the 39-year-old victim was on her back porch when she was hit from behind and dragged into the woods.

Deputy Chanel Martin said “They placed a rope type mechanism around her neck and attempted to restrict her breathing, they then proceeded to strike her multiple times.”

LCSO said the victim was able to get away after fighting off the suspects.

Deputy Martin said the victim claimed to fight off the attackers with a pocket knife - possibly injuring one of the men.
