Deputies investigate Marion County man's suspicious death

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies are looking into the circumstances behind what they’re calling the suspicious death of a Marion County man.

Theresa Fuller said she texted her son, Edward Moffitt, Tuesday night about 9 p.m. She didn’t get a response so she checked on him at his Ocala home about 8 a.m. Wednesday.

She found him dead in the front yard and called for help.

Marion County deputies would only say the death is suspicious.

“I don’t know any other details. I ran out of the yard,” said Fuller. “Every day he came to my house to see his mom or talk on the phone. He came to eat dinner then he (went) home. We were always together.”

Fuller and Moffitt’s mother-in-law said the 34-year-old has been married nearly 10 years, but was going through a divorce.

He was a father of two.

“Mother and father just didn’t agree who was going to get the children. They were battling with it,” Fuller said.

Detectives said family members, including Moffitt’s wife, are being questioned.

Moffitt’s family said they are desperate for answers.
