Deputies were called to the Walmart on North Wickham Road in Melbourne around noon Sunday after a loss prevention officer requested to have a man trespassed from the store.

The officer told responding deputies that he had been watching a man, later identified as 60-year-old David Knight, walk around the business since 10:30 a.m. that day, following young girls around the store and taking pictures of them with a cell phone.

Deputies say the officer told them Knight could then be seen walking around a corner in the business and placing his hands down his pants.

According to the sheriff’s office, the loss prevention officer said he watched Knight continue the behavior from approximately 10:30 a.m. until just before noon and called 911 once he was sure Knight was in fact masturbating in public.

Once confronted by deputies, Knight admitted to spending hours taking pictures of young girls in the store then using the photos to masturbate nearby. According to the sheriff’s office, Knight even admitted to wearing a sex toy around his genitals while performing the acts.

Deputies say Knight told them he had been engaging in that type of behavior for more than a year and had done the same thing in the same store the previous morning without being caught.

Deputies later made contact with one of the girls seen on Knight’s phone and confirmed she was under 16 years of age.

Knight was subsequently arrested on charges of aggravated stalking of a minor under the age of 16, lewd and lascivious behavior, and disorderly conduct.
