LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A 16-year-old high school student was arrested after making a threat on Snapchat, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday morning.
Deputies said the threat was brought to their attention after a 17-year-old student fatally shot himself Tuesday in a courtyard near the school's bus loop.
"... a young man made a Snapchat depicting him with a firearm alluding to school violence today," the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. "The suspect was identified and located on a traffic stop."
Deputies identified the student as Jonathan Voros. The teen told deputies that the teen who killed himself was his friend and that he had no intention of doing anything at the school and that he made the Snapchat post in jest.
Voros does not attend Lake Minneola High School, but is in a GED program, deputies said.
A teen who attends a different school notified authorities about Voros Snapchat post, deputies said.

Voros father told Eyewitness News that his son is a good kid and the post wasn't even a threat.
Deputies said the weapon in the student's possession was a pellet gun.
"The pellet gun was seized, he was charged accordingly, and the school was made aware so the appropriate action could be taken on their end," the Facebook post said.
Investigators said there is no reason to believe that there is a threat to the school or students.
The school had 768 students attend Wednesday. That's about half of what the school sees on a normal school day.
Voros faces charges of written threats to kill or do bodily harm, a second-degree felony.
