Deputies: Armed intruder shoots Orange County homeowner

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 37-year-old man was shot Thursday evening by an armed intruder, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

The shooting was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. at a mobile home on Crossen Drive near South Goldenrod Road and Sun Vista Way, Orange County Lt. Ken Taylor said.

The victim, whose identity hasn't been released, was shot in the torso, Taylor said.

Investigators said he was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in guarded condition with significant injuries. He was alert and conscious, deputies said.

The gunman, who's believed to be in his 30s, fled the scene and remains at large, Taylor said.

The home invasion and shooting remain under investigation.

No other details were given.
