BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies in Brevard County are investigating a deadly deputy-involved shooting Tuesday morning.

The incident started around 2:46 a.m. Tuesday on Egret Lake Way, in Viera.
Deputies said they were called after a disturbance happened inside, and family members fled to a neighbor for help.
Deputies set up a perimeter around the home and attempted to contact the suspect.

The man told deputies he would not surrender and they would need to come inside the home and shoot him, officials said.

The man later exited the home with a gun, pointed it at deputies, and they were forced to shoot him, officials said.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the shooting appears to be a “suicide by cop” incident.

“He put our deputies in harm’s way,” Ivey said.
No deputies were injured.
Ivey said an active investigation is ongoing and that everyone involved’s names will be released later.
