I-4 reopens after deadly crash near World Center Drive in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly crash shut down part of Interstate 4 near State Road 536 early Tuesday.

8 a.m. Update:

I-4 has reopened to traffic.

Troopers said a semi-truck struck and killed a pedestrian who was walking across I-4 at approximately 1:25 a.m.

According to FHP, the semi was traveling westbound, hauling two trailers.

Investigators said as the truck approached mile marker 67, the pedestrian walked directly into its path.

The pedestrian, who troopers have not identified, died at the crash site.

He was an Orlando resident, age 61.

The driver of the truck, 52, of Saint Cloud, was not hurt and remained on scene after the crash, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers are on the scene of a deadly crash along Interstate 4 in Orange County.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the westbound lanes near mile marker 67.

That’s in the Lake Buena Vista area, near the Osceola County line.

As of 6:30 a.m., FHP indicated the closure of all westbound lanes of I-4 in this area.

Westbound traffic was being diverted off I-4 at exit 67.

WFTV is working to gather more details about the crash.
