ORLANDO, Fla. — Starting Downtown business owners will need a permit to serve alcohol after midnight.

However, many business owners said with the deadline looming, they still don’t have those permits.
City officials said only 16 permits are approved at this point, and 51 have applied. Many businesses said it’s frustrating.

The permits are of a new rule approved by City Council last month in an effort to make the downtown nightlife scene safter after a string of shootings.
