FHP: Woman charged with DUI after injuring Daytona Beach police officer investigating crash

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A Daytona Beach police officer was seriously injured after being hit by a car during a traffic stop Wednesday evening, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision happened when a 2019 Hyundai SUV was traveling eastbound on LPGA Boulevard.

A marked Daytona Beach police SUV was stopped with its emergency lights east of the intersection of LPGA Boulevard and Clyde Morris Boulevard, actively working a crash.

Troopers said the driver of the Hyundai, identified as Aubree Juergens, 22, failed to slow down and hit the SUV, which caused it to collide with the officer.

The officer was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Juegens was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Volusia County Jail.

Troopers said Juegens was over twice the legal limit, at .187%.

The crash is under investigation.
