DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Two Daytona Beach police officers fatally shot a 21-year-old man who shot at them while fleeing the scene of a fatal shooting Monday, officials said.
Police said at about 8:45 a.m., Jerric Harris went over to the Hollywood Street home of his neighbor, Jamari Burks, 21, and shot him five times, including at least once in the neck. They said Burks died at the hospital.
Investigators said a witness pointed two officers to Harris, who fired several rounds at them while trying to flee. The officers returned fire on Wildwood Street.
