CVS, Walmart & Publix offering COVID-19 vaccines to all teachers, school employees

CVS, Walmart and Publix announced that teachers of any age can get the COVID-19 vaccination at their pharmacies.

In a news conference Thursday, the governor said he is fine with vaccinating educators, but he will continue to focus on vaccinating seniors.

Publix announced Thursday that it would amend its eligibility to follow DeSantis’ announcement allowing school employees of all ages to sign up to receive the vaccine. Publix will open appointments on Friday at 7 a.m. Click here for more information and click here to make an appointment.

CVS released the following statement:

“We’ve aligned with updated federal retail pharmacy program guidelines by making appointments available to teachers in all 17 states where we currently offer COVID-19 vaccines.”

Appointments are booked at all Central Florida CVS locations as of Thursday.

Walmart said all teachers, staff members and bus drivers are eligible to receive the vaccine at its pharmacies.

As for the other pharmacies offering the vaccine, Winn-Dixie said it would consult with the state of Florida and the Florida Department of Health.
