The fire caused a “chain reaction,” setting off fireworks, “similar to the one in Melbourne,” Wienckowski said. After an “aggressive attack” on the fire, rescue crews were able to pull victims out.

The fire was contained to the fireworks storage facility, Wienckowski said. The multi-use building also houses a furniture store that was not damaged.

The conditions of those transported was not immediately known. Also not known was how many patients were missing. At least one child was removed from the building.

The adults in the storage at the time of the fire were employees, Wienckowski said.
