WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A 71-year-old man was killed in an alligator attack while fishing at Dr. Bradford Memorial Park in Winter Garden on Friday, officials said.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Steven Hamilton, a Winter Garden resident, was fishing in a pond when he was bitten by an alligator.

Winter Garden police and fire crews responded to the park around 5 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about the attack. Responding personnel pronounced Hamilton dead at the scene, according to FWC.

His body was later recovered from the water, according to Winter Garden officials.
