Woman killed, another driver seriously injured in wrong-way crash on I-4

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly wrong-way crash that had a section of Interstate 4 shut down Tuesday in Orange County.

Update:

Troopers said a crash had all eastbound lanes of I-4 shut down near Lee Road in Winter Park on Tuesday.

The crash happened around 4:35 a.m. and involved two vehicles, a 2019 Kia Optima and a 2021 Nissan Altima.

Troopers said a 32-year-old Davenport woman was killed in the crash and a 50-year-old Orlando woman was seriously injured in it.

Troopers said the Davenport woman was driving the wrong way on I-4 when the crash occurred.

The road has since been reopened.

The crash happened around 4:40 a.m. and several first responders are seen in the area.

It’s unclear how many vehicles are involved and if anyone is injured.

Florida Department of Transportation cameras show several vehicles with major damage and debris spread across the interstate.

The shutdown of eastbound I-4 is causing major traffic issues in the area and drivers should seek alternative routes.
