Seminole County hands out nearly 11K rapid COVID-19 test kits in about 15 minutes, officials say

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A COVID-19 rapid testing kit event ended early in Seminole County after thousands queued for free tests.

The event started at 10 a.m. Wednesday and supplies were depleted in 15 minutes, officials said.

Health officials said they made nearly 11,000 at-home test kits available during the event.

Officials said they turned away people who joined the queue once supplies ran dry.

They said there are no additional distribution events scheduled at this time.

County leaders said they would schedule distribution events as more kits are made available to the county

Channel 9′s Q McCray said traffic was a mess in Lake Mary as thousands of people made their way to the Seminole State Sanford/Lake Mary campus to pick up a free at-home testing kit.
