CLERMONT, Fla. — Ten guards at a state prison in Clermont were found immune in the death of an inmate in 2017.

The estate of Jose Villegas accused the guards at the Lake Correctional Institution of restraining Villegas with deliberate indifference.
Villegas was found unresponsive in his cell by the guards.

They say he became combative after they woke him up.
An autopsy report found that the force used to restrain Villegas led to a cardiac arrest.

A federal appeals court found that the guards were entitled to immunity.
