Counseling resources continue to expand in Orlando amid spike in pandemic depression

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Multiple studies have shown a pandemic spike in depression and suicidal thoughts for teens. It’s just one of the reasons a counseling center has expanded into Orlando to help.

Two years ago, The Nurture Place opened its first counseling center in Winter Garden for families with kids under 12. Response to that program was so great that a second location not only offered families greater access, but addressed the more complex needs and stressors of growing teens.

An added partnership with the state’s nearby juvenile detention center focuses on support and critical coping skills to break the cycle of acting out.

The expansion in the Orlando area continues in preschool and after-school programs at multiple schools.
