ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A new proposal aimed at addressing Orange County’s traffic problems is moving closer to a vote.
County commissioners are considering launching a feasibility study for a proposed transit system called STAR.
The plan would bring rapid transit service to eight busy corridors across the county, including Colonial Drive, Semoran Boulevard and Orange Blossom Trail.
Supporters say more frequent and reliable transit service could give residents another option besides driving, potentially helping ease congestion on some of the county’s busiest roads.
The proposal currently calls for a feasibility study to determine whether the STAR system could work and what would be needed to move the project forward.
County commissioners could vote next Tuesday on whether to proceed with the study.
