WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A judge sentenced two kidnappers on Wednesday who held a family hostage in the family's home in Winter Garden.
Victor Sanchez was found guilty of the crimes, while Miguel Santiz made a plea deal.
However, both were sentenced to life in prison.
Sanchez and Santiz were ordered to pay $53,600 in restitution to the victims.
Marcela Borges, her husband, Rubens Morais, and their then-5-year-old son were held hostage in their home in November 2009.
The motive was to drain the family of their life savings.
However, prosecutors said the men didn't count on Borges' will to save herself and her family.
A then-pregnant Borges jumped from a second-story window of her Lake Roberts Drive home to find help. She was shot, but survived and testified against the men.
A third suspect, Oscar Diaz Hernandez, has yet to stand trial.
The accused ringleader of the group, Bianca Dos Santos, remains at large.
