Contractor releases timeline for removal of unstable scaffolding in downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Help is on the way for downtown Orlando businesses closed because of unstable scaffolding.

On Monday, a contractor finally released a schedule to take the scaffolding down off a building on Orange Avenue. The public was first alerted to the issue a week ago.

A spokesperson for Balfour Beatty, the contractor in charge of the operation, said if all goes as planned, they’ll start fixing things come Thursday.

They hired a team to do the job, and they’ve already started to bring in equipment.

Meanwhile, some businesses remain closed, which means no revenue for them and no paychecks for employees.

The scaffolding issue also has several roads closed in the downtown area. You can see a map of closures here.

City officials said they support Balfour Beatty as it works to take care of the situation safely.
