SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The Seminole County Supervisor of Elections said he’s concerned about a state decision to terminate its contract with a system meant to protect against voter fraud.

The system, known as ERIC, is a data-sharing partnership between a majority of states and keeps voter rolls accurate from state to state.

But not everyone agrees leaving ERIC was a good idea.

Chris Anderson said while the system wasn’t perfect, it was a huge help in making sure voters couldn’t cast ballots in more than one state.

Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd said they have lost confidence in the Electronic Registration Information System and terminated its contract after efforts over the past year to reform ERIC through attempts to secure data and eliminate what Byrd calls “partisan tendencies” were rejected.
