Thousands of fans poured into Camping World Stadium on Wednesday for the Russell Athletic Bowl.
Kick-off between the Miami Hurricanes and the West Virginia Mountaineers was at 5:30 p.m.
There are some security changes from previous years, including new rules for fans who bring bags or purses.
“We were aware of the police going into the stadium, but we’re going into a tailgate party. We didn’t think they would restrict that,” said fan Brian Katcher.
Security officials were stopping fans before they got to the gates to make them empty large bags or purses and switch to clear bags, which were given away for free.
“I got the bag, I just wanted to bring the vodka into the tailgate. I can’t, though, so we’re going to find some lucky West Virginia fan and give it to them,” said Kris Farley.
Some women threw their purses away, while others rolled up their purses and stuffed them into the clear bags.
